National Flag disrespected

Madikeri, January 22: The National Flag caused a flutter at Somwarpet yesterday and the Taluk Magistrate had to rush to a school for inspection.

Residents of Somwarpet called on scribes yesterday and alleged that the national Flag was allegedly used to clean the floor at St Josephs school.

A band of scribes rushed to the school and saw that a flag was kept for drying.

Following a complaint Taluk Magistrate Hiriyanna, who is also Tahasildar rushed to the spot.

The Principal explained that the National Flag was found by a student in a drainage and he instructed him to wash and dry it. He denied having used it to swab the floor.

The student said he found it in drainage near the school. The Tahasildar advised the school Principal to be careful with the Flag and treat it with respect.

Meanwhile, the Bhajarangadal unit led by its President Mahesh Thimmaiah has given a written complaint to the Tahasildar against theschool and urged to initiate action against the school.
