New Delhi, May 27: The Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh led the nation in paying homage to first Prime minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of his 46th death anniversary.
An all religion prayer meeting was held at his memorial site , Shanti Van in the national capital.
Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Delhi chief Minister Mrs. Shiela Dixit and other senior leaders paid glowing glowing tributes to the architect of Modern India.
Several functions are being organised across the country to mark the occasion. Many welfare schemes are being launched today by various state governments.
