Anantapur, September 28: The Telugu Desam party president and former chief minister, Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu, here on Tuesday asserted that his government had successfully maintained communal harmony and protected properties of the Muslim minorities in the State.
As part of his three-day tour of the Anantapur district, Mr Naidu convened a meeting of Muslims and asked them about their problems. He also handed over cheques towards financial assistance for development of mosques in the town.
Addressing the Muslim minorities, the former chief minister said that there were a large number of poor Muslims in the district and demanded that the government announce a special package for helping the minority community financially and socially. He also reiterated that his party was committed to the reservations for Muslims. (NSS)
