Naidu insists on no-trust vote in AP Assembly

Hyderabad, June 04: The Telugu Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday insisted his party will move a No-Confidence motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government on Saturday and the Speaker has no option but to take it up.

The TD decided to move the No-Confidence motion basically to expose Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is boasting of the support of a large number of MLAs and also embarrass the government. Following reports that the no confidence motion may not be taken up on Saturday since it is not on agenda, Mr Naidu consulted senior party leaders including former Speaker Mr Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and legislative experts and decided to go ahead with the motion.

Mr Naidu said the Speaker can take up the No-Confidence motion within 10 days after receiving the notice. “He has to take it up. There is no escape,” he remarked. “We have gone through the rules. The party can issue a notice for taking up no-confidence motion one hour before the working day of the Assembly session. It requires the support of 30 MLAs.” Mr Naidu said as per the invitation from the Legislature department, the Assembly Session on Saturday to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker was an extension of the previous session.
