Naidu Condemns Disruption Of Rally &Arrest Of Employees

Hyderabad, November 23: The Telugu Desam Party president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, here on Tuesday, described the disruption of government employees’ rallies as part of Chalo Hyderabad programme as “undemocratic, improper and condemnable.”

In a pressnote here today, the former chief minister stated that the government has no right to arrest the employees while they were agitating in a democratic manner by taking out protest rallies from districts. The arrest of peacefully protesting government employees was undemocratic and unprecedented in the State.

It is clear that the Rosaiah government was resorting to vindictive action and its refusal to give permission for holding a public meeting and peaceful processions was shameful.

Charging the government with making name-sake recruitments in various departments in the last six years, the former chief minister felt that the employees were subjected to hardship with heavy increase in the workload. Stating that adequate number of employees was needed for implementation of welfare programmes effectively, he said the government was not keen on filling vacant posts in various departments. As the government failed to respond on time, the employees were forced to take to the streets, he added.

Demanding that the government call the employees unions for talks to solve their problems, the Leader of Opposition asked the government to release all the arrested employees and offer an unconditional apology. He also demanded that the government make public the number of vacant posts in various departments in the State. (NSS)
