Musharraf to hold public meet via video Sunday

Lahore, April 16: From London, Pakistan’s former president Pervez Musharraf will address supporters of his newly-formed All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) through a video conference in Lahore Sunday, The News reported Saturday.

While announcing about the video address, APML leader Fawad Chaudhry Friday told reporters that the April 17 public meeting would prove to be a new beginning in the political history of Pakistan. He said Musharraf would make direct contact with the oppressed masses.

On the possibility of Musharraf’s return, Chaudhry said, although he was very excited about returning, his loyalists had advised him to wait for an appropriate time.

Chaudhry could not specify the reasons preventing the return of Musharraf to the country. However, he said, Musharraf would land in one of the provincial capitals, presumably Lahore, to participate in the next general elections.

Chaudhry also refuted reports that warrants by Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against Musharraf in former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination case had anything to do with his return.
