Johannesburg: Britain number one Andy Murray has disclosed that he is likely to pull out of this year’s ATP World Tour finals in order to be fully fit for Davis Cup final against Belgium in November.
Murray produced an inspiring fight as he claimed a straight-set win over Bernard Tomic on Sunday to help Great Britain reach their first Davis Cup final since 1978.
The Davis Cup final will be played from November 27-29- just a few days after the conclusion of the hard-court World Tour finale at London’s O2 Arena.
According to Sport24, Murray said that the O2 would be a question mark for him if Belgium stage the final on the clay court, citing that he wouldn’t get enough rest and time to get himself ready for the Davis Cup.
Should Murray skip the World Tour Finals, he would not only take big financial hit but also miss out on securing 1,500 ATP ranking points. (ANI)
