Munda shots off letter to Jharkhand Governor

Ranchi, August 20: Demanding Jharkhand Governor K Sankaranarayanan settle the dispute over acquisition of agriculture land for a private steel and power company in Saraikela Kharswan district, Lok Sabha member Arjun Munda has shot off a letter to Raj Bhavan.

Claiming the land acquisition displaced 153 families, the former chief minister in the letter yesterday urged the Governor to direct the district administration to mediate and put an end to the ‘sufferings’ of the families in the face of worst drought.

As per the agreement, Munda’s letter claimed, the company was supposed to give permanent jobs and other facilities to the families who gave their land.

The company had drilled 15 to 20 deep boring for its water requirement, leaving public handpumps dry in the drought situation, the letter claimed.
