Mubarak Gul is advisor to J-K CM

Srinagar, July 15: Senior National Conference MLA Mubarak Gul today took over as advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with the status of cabinet rank.

However, Gul would not draw any salary or remuneration for the assignment, an official spokesman said.

The Chief Minister himself accompanied Gul to his office in the secretariat and remained with him for a while.

Born on February 22, 1951 at Srinagar, Gul is a law graduate.

After starting his political career, he had a stint as a councilor in 1976. Later, he also became provincial president of NC and was elected to the state Assembly in 1983 for the first time. He won the Assembly seat from Idgah constituency on NC ticket in 2008.

Gul, soon after taking over the charge, received large number of individuals and deputations.
