Moulana Naseeruddin granted bail

Hyderabad, September 04: The Supreme Court Of India today Granted the conditional bail to the Muslim cleric Moulana MOhammed Naseeruddin who has been languishing in the Sabarmati jail for more than five years.

He was arrested by the Detection Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Police on 30 November 2004 in connection with the former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya murder case conspiracy and during this incident one youth Mujahid Saleem was killed by the Gujarat police near the DGP’s office.

The family sources however revealed that Moulana Naseeruddin has been granted bail by the double bench of Apex Court comprising Justice Malkonde Kaju and Justice Ganguly. The bail plea in Apex court was moved in early January by Advocate Kamini Jaiswal.

After hearing the arguements the double bench granted bail on certain conditions asking him not to leave the country without the court permission.

It is learnt that the bail orders would be submitted in the POTA court in Gujarat on Monday and it is expected that by next week Moulana Naseeruddin would be released.

Moulana Naseeruddin’s wife Tasneem fatima in a press release has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court.
