Hyderabad, December 31: Amidst the Telangana bandh called by the Joint Action Committee, leaders of various political parties met Governor ESL Narasimhan at his official residence, Raj Bhavan, here today.
Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas, who greeted the new Governor, told mediapersons that there was no significance to his meeting with the Governor.
Congress leader and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, along with Marketing and Warehousing Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha also met the Governor to congratulate him on his new posting.
Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan was another prominent leader to call on the new Governor.
Stating that the meeting with the Governor was formal, he told reporters that there was nothing wrong in the review conducted by the Governor on the state of security affairs in the State.
“The governor has every right to do such a review. But the decision-making power lies in the hands of the chief minister to take any sort of action,’’ he said. He recalled that he and Narasimhan had a professional relation when during his stint in the Indian Administrative Service.
Earlier, Telugu Desam leader Y Ramakrishnudu remarked that the Governor had no business to indulge directly in governance-related affairs when the chief minister is holding the office.
A BJP delegation led by B Dattatreya also paid visit to the Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to the Governor.
Narasimhan, who is also the Governor of Chhattisgarh, will be spending the New Year Day in the city to exchange felicitations and greetings with the public at large between 11 am and 1 pm, according to an official press release.
