Modi Opponents Are Against State’s Development: BJP

Chandigarh, January 18: Reacting sharply to the criticism for roping in Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during campaigning in poll-bound Punjab, the BJP today said those opposing him were against development in the state.

“Modi has earned national and international accolades. Even Congress leaders have showered words of praise on him. His name is synonymous to development and the opposition is unfounded,” Rajya Sabha MP and former state president, Avinash Rai Khanna said.

Claiming that Modi’s opposition by certain leaders reflected their mindset against development-oriented politics, he said their approach was only out of frustration among party’s adversaries following the realisation that the BJP-SAD alliance was coming back to power again.

He said Congress stands as a divided house on the issue of Modi and even former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had recently applauded Modi for his developmental model in Gujarat.
