Moderate to heavy rains in HP

Shimla: Moderate to heavy rains occurred today at various places in Himachal Pradesh.

Dharamshala was wettest place in the region with 49 mm rains, followed by Sarkaghat 42mm, Sundernagar 23 mm, Dalhousie and Jubbal 16 mm, Sarahan 12 mm, Mandi 11 mm, Kumarsain and Bharmaur 10 and Solan 9 mm.

The local MeT office has warned of heavy rains at isolated placed in the mid hills tomorrow and heavy to very heavy rains in lower, mid and higher hills on July 26 and 27.

The MeT office has also predicted rains and thundershowers at most places in the state for next six days from tomorrow.

The region received 240.2 mm average rainfall from June 1 to July 24, 2016 against normal rainfall of 328.6 mm which was 27 percent less and eight out of 12 districts received deficit rains ranging between nine and 85 per cent and only Solan district alone had 19 per cent excess rains.

The maximum temperatures remained steady and Una was hottest with a high of 34.5 degrees while Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded maximum temperatures at 33.7 degrees and 32.5 degrees, followed by Nahan 27.5 degrees, Dharamsala 27.4 degrees, Solan 27.0 degrees, Manali 25.6 degrees, Kalpa 23.6 degrees and Shimla 22.6 degrees.

Kalpa was the coldest region in the state with minimum temperature at 12.0 degrees while Manali and Keylong recorded a low of 13.8 degrees and 14.5 degrees, followed by Shimla 14.9 degrees, Dharamsala 16.6 degrees, Solan and Bhuntar 20.4 degrees Sundernagar 21.1 degrees and Una 25.5 degrees C.
