Mumbai:Three workers of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly pelting stones and damaging an English signboard of a coaching centre in the city, police said.
They were demanding that the signboard, outside the coaching institute in Charkop area of suburban Kandivali, must also have the name written in Marathi, a police officer said.
Those arrested have been identified as Vikash Khair, Vishwas More and Rohan Kulekar and would be produced in the court tomorrow, the officer said.
The trio has been held under sections 427 (mischief, causing damage), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC in addition with the sections related to rioting was registered against them, the officer said.
The Raj Thackeray-led MNS had carried out a violent agitation some years ago demanding that signboards of shops and hotels in Mumbai must be written in Marathi.
