City police today said there will be a ban on slaughtering of animals, sale, purchase of meat products and eggs in Ludhiana in the wake of ‘Maha Shivratri’ festival on March 7, police said today.
During the festival of ‘Maha Shivratri’ on March 7, Deputy Commissioner of Police Narinder Bhargav has ordered banning of slaughtering of animals and sale/purchase of meat products and eggs within the are of Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana, said an official spokesman.
These orders have been issued under section 144 of CrPC and keeping in mind the religious sanctity of this festival, he said.
All shops, slaughterhouses involved in sale/purchase of meat, meat products and eggs have been ordered to remain closed on March 7.
Similarly there would be complete ban on cooking and serving of meat, meat products and eggs in restaurants and shops, he further said.
