Mumbai, April 21: With the aim of making people familiar with Maharashtrian cuisine, the women’s wing of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has launched a contest for the best chef from Mumbai.
“Maharashtrian cuisine ranges from vegetarian and kosher meals to coastal and non-vegetarian varieties. The meals from different states, ranging from the North to the Southern belt, have gained prominence, but Maharashtrian cuisine has always remained unexplored,” Shalini Thackeray, Vice-President of MNS Women’s Wing, said.
The four-day initiative kick started in 36 zones of Mumbai here yesterday. The competition will see women from different parts of the state showcasing their cooking skills.
The event is an attempt to make Mumbai familiar to authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, she said.
During April 25-29, participants from Vidarbha and Marathwada regions would showcase their skills, she said.
The women participating in the competition will be judged by renowned chefs from city-based hotels.
