MLAs protest in Assembly premises

Hyderabad, December 11: Several MLAs of the ruling Congress and Telugu Desam, who have resigned to protest the division of Andhra Pradesh, today held a protest at the Gandhi statue in the State Assembly premises.

Soon after the Assembly was adjourned for the day, the MLAs gathered at the Gandhi statue and raised slogans in favour of united Andhra Pradesh.

“Andhra Pradesh is the result of a prolonged struggle by great leaders like Potti Sriramulu. What about the lakhs of people from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions who have come to Hyderabad in search of livelihood,” J Ramesh, a Congress MLA said.

The MLAs from Rayalaseema demanded that the united state should be retained or a separate Greater Rayalaseema be formed.
