Mumbai, May 26: A juvenile court convicted four minor orphans arrested for raping their nine-year-old schoolmate inside a shelter, attached to an educational institute in suburban Bandra, the police said.
“The Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board has convicted all the four boys (yesterday) for the rape,” said Samad Sheikh, Senior Inspector of Bandra police station.
The victim was a student of Class I at St Catherine of Siena School, which also has a home for destitute children, in which over 300 minor boys and girls live.
Boys of Class III, IV and V had confessed to have raped the girl, following which, they were arrested on April 7.
According to police, the crime came to light when the authorities of the shelter and school held an interactive session with the inmates.
