Hyderabad, October 15: Some ungainly moments marred the otherwise very informative press conference in which Rural Development Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar briefed the media persons about the Ordinance on MFIs at the Secretariat on Friday.
Mr Vasantha Kumar was forced to apologise to the press persons for his caustic remark to a question posed by a scribe on the quantum of loans disbursed to the loanees.
The Minister, who was at a loss momentarily to pinpoint the scribe who had posed the question due to the presence of a horde of media men, said, “I cannot reply in a fish market.”
The reporter felt slighted and rejoined, “this is not a fish market and fish trading is not taking place either.”
The other scribes too stood by with the reporter. Mr Vasantha Kumar was quick to appease the newsmen by saying ‘sorry’ for the remarks.
After the Minister’s apology for losing his cool, normalcy soon returned to the media briefing.
Later replying to a point, Mr Vasantha Kumar revealed that he would visit all districts to check whether Ordinance is well received and also ensure its implementation.
