Microsoft releases new security updates

Berlin, August 23: Microsoft’s regular patch day featured nine new updates this month.

The new security patches are designed to plug 19 security gaps in Windows, Windows Media Player and Microsoft Office, reported Germany’s BSI Federal Office for Information Security. Unstopped, the security leaks could have allowed criminals to make use of programmes and documents to upload dangerous programs onto the computer.

To install the safety patches, computer users need to activate the automatic update function in the Windows Security Centre. The patches can also be uploaded at update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate.
