Lahore, December 08: National team manager Intikhab Alam has said former skipper Javed Miandad will attend the upcoming training camp as Pakistan’s batting and fielding coach.
The national camp is being held here from today for the upcoming tour of New Zealand where Pakistan will play two Tests, six One-day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.
The camp will continue till December 15, and on December 17 the team will leave for Karachi to fly out to New Zealand the next day.
There were reports in the media that Miandad, a veteran of 124 Tests and 233 One-day Internationals, is reluctant to join the camp, having reservations over one of the terms, which binds him to work under head coach Waqar Younis, who is junior to Miandad.
”Miandad is in Lahore and there is no issue that he will not attend the training camp,” Intikhab told ‘Dawn’.
”I have not learnt any kind of objection from any quarter but I have the report that Miandad will be here to perform his duty,” he added.
Intikhab further said all the players announced for the three Twenty20 and two Test matches had reported to him, adding they all would be here to resume the camp from day one.
