New Delhi : The accused juvenile in the Mercedes hit-and-run case was on Monday sent to two-day police custody after his bail plea was rejected yesterday by the court.
The father of the accused juvenile was, however, released on a personal bail bond of Rs. one lakh.
The juvenile was earlier apprehended and handed over to the Juvenile Justice Officer and was kept at a juvenile home for a day before being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
The incident took place on April 4 when the victim, Sidharth Sharma, was crossing the road near Ludlow Castle School in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area when a Mercedes hit him.
The Delhi Police yesterday slapped graver charges – culpable homicide – on the juvenile driver after learning that he was a repeated offender and arrested his father for abetting the crime.
A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence has been registered at the Civil Lines Police Station.
The Class 12 student, who was allegedly driving the Mercedes, was arrested under laws for underage offenders but later released on bail.
The teen was on a night out with six friends. (ANI)
