Fatwa issued against using other’s Wi-fi without their knowledge

Dubai: A fatwa has been issued by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai against illegal use of Wi-Fi.

As per Gulf news, a user on the department’s website asked whether it was permissible to make use of other people’s Wi-Fi service without their knowledge.

The query was posted under the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD)’s modern fatwas section.

The fatwa stated that, “it is not allowed for people to use what belongs to others without payment or without their permission.

Therefore, the Internet should be used only after subscribing for the service.”

Furthermore, the illegal usage of Wi-Fi could reduce the Internet speed for the original user if many shared the Internet connection.
