Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today came down heavily on BJP and Congress for fielding their candidates into the fray of Medak bypoll to be held on September 13.
Addressing a TRS extended meeting at Gajwel here, Harish Rao said Sidhipet is known for persistent struggles. The people of the region are aware of the present day politics and should show their support to the party which will stand by them, he said. He exhorted the party leaders and workers to ensure a sweeping majority to their candidate K Prabhakar Reddy which should become an eye opener to the Centre. The results should also teach the BJP and the Congress a lesson, Harish said.
Harish also criticized the Central Government for imposing sanctions on the Telangana State at the behest of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. “The BJP Govt at the Centre is dancing to the tunes of Chandrababu Naidu, who was hatching conspiracies against Telangana State even now”, he alleged. He attributed special powers to Governor and shifting of seven tribal mandals from Khammam to AP are two classic examples in this regard. But, these conspiracies will not last, he warned.
He further said, “BJP and the Congress adopted double standards on statehood issue. We have developed Siddipet and will put in more efforts for the same. We have fought with then Chief Minister N Kiran Kkumar Reddy, who refused to give even a single rupee for Telangana development”, he said, adding that Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao has released Rs 480 crores for farmers’ welfare. He also sought to know whether the Congress candidate Sunitha Lakhma Reddy did anything for Medak being a minister. “Why should the people of Medak vote for Jagga Reddy, who opposed Telangana and Sunitha who failed to do anything for the district. Do we need such leaders to get elected”, he asked. Keeping these facts in view, the party leaders and workers should ensure that people vote in favor of the ruling party candidate, he exhorted. (NSS)
