New Delhi, Sept. 14 : The Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday announced that nine more Indian Haj pilgrims have died in Friday’s Grand Mosque crane collapse in Mecca, raising the death toll to eleven.
The MEA confirmed that nine Indian pilgrims died after the morgue was opened on Sunday.
“Mission is extending all possible assistance to the families of the 11 deceased pilgrims to complete formalities in Mecca,” The MEA said in a statement.
Earlier, the Ministry had informed about death of two Indians, one from West Bengal and the other from Kerala.
The incident, which occurred ahead of the annual Haj pilgrimage, has claimed 115 lives so far.
