Mayor missing, says TD plaint to police

Hyderabad, February 28: Worried over the ‘disappearance’ of GHMC mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy for more than two weeks, GHMC corporators belonging to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) lodged a complaint with the police to trace the ‘missing’ person.

In a complaint lodged with the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Saifabad division, TDP floor leader in GHMC Singireddy Srinivas Reddy said that the mayor had disappeared without any intimation to the office or the party colleagues.

“Her whereabouts are not known for the last two weeks. Even deputy mayor Jaffer Hussain and GHMC commissioner Sameer Sharma don’t know where she had gone,” the complaint said.

At a time when the city was going through a turmoil due to T-protests, especially the two-day bandh and the ongoing non-cooperation movement, including in the GHMC, the mayor showed lack of responsibility by staying away from the office for a long period, it was alleged.

When contacted, mayor’s husband Banda Chandra Reddy told Express that she had been to Delhi and was back in the city last night.
