Mayawati to expand her Cabinet

Lucknow, November 15: BSP state unit president Swami Prasad Maurya, who won the by-election to the Padrauna assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh, is likely to be inducted as a cabinet minister, official sources said.

After BSP’s grand success in recently concluded by-elections in which the party won nine of the 11 assembly seats, Chief Minister Mayawati is expected to expand her cabinet today.

Governor BL Joshi will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers this evening at Raj Bhawan, the sources said.

Names of some other BSP leaders are also being considered for induction in the ministry, as nine berths are vacant in the state cabinet, having a strength of 51.

Mayawati had earlier hinted about a cabinet reshuffle during a meeting with party MLA yesterday.
