Marandi asks Cong to name chief ministerial candidate

Ranchi, December 25: Jharkhand Vikash Morcha(P) today asked ally Congress to name a chief minister as JMM supremo Shibu Soren said he would settle for nothing less than chiefministership for offering support.

“The Congress has got more seats than our party.

Therefore, it has the right to decide on a candidate for the chief ministerial post,” JVM(P) chief Babulal Marandi told here.

“If the Congress initiates it we can urge like-minded parties and MLAs for support to begin efforts on formation of a new government,” he said, adding he had full confidence that theCongress-JVM(P) alliance would get support to form the next government.

Asked whether he would also appeal to the JMM for support, Marandi replied “It’s welcome.”

“As per democratic traditions, the largest pre-poll alliance should be given the first preference to form the government.
