Maoists attack mobile tower in Jajpur

Jajpur (Orissa), April 01: A day after Orissa police claimed presence of Maoists in Bisthapan Virodhi Jana Manch (BVJM), which opposed displacement of tribals due to industrialisation in Kalinga Nagar in the district, the rebels set ablaze a mobile tower in the area today.

The mobile tower of a private service provider was partially damaged but remained functional, Inspector In-Charge of Kalinga Nagar police station K C Mund said.

Some posters bearing the name of banned CPI (Maoists) were found near the mobile tower, he said, adding the hand written posters opposed the common corridor road project which was being constructed with police protection.

The posters warned the administration and the people who supported them.

Mund said the rebels were trying to create a fear psychosis among the people.
