Ahmedabad, October 29: A man was today sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his minor daughter, while his wife, who was accused of aiding and abetting the crime, has been acquitted for lack of evidence.
Sessions judge P A Vaghela, while sentencing Bharat Rathod to life imprisonment, observed that this was a gruesome and shameful incident and he deserves maximum punishment.
It also said that a father, who is supposed to protect his children, became a predator and committed a crime which is highly condemnable.
The Court, which acquitted Rathod’s wife Rekha for lack of evidence, also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the guilty.
According to case details, Rathod had raped his 15-year-old daughter on the night of April 28, 2009, at his residence in Khokra area of the city.
