Butterworth, May 01: Malaysia’s opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah has said that she is 100 percent sure that the man in the sex video is not her husband.
She said she had not seen the second video released on the Internet because it was illicit.
“But I am sure the man in the video is not my husband,” she said during a press conference organised by the state PKR Youth.
When asked if she and her husband, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had considered taking legal action against Datuk T, Dr Wan Azizah said such actions must be thought over carefully.
She claimed the trio, Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik and Datuk Shuib Lazim, were heavily protected by the police and given bulletproof vests when they appeared at Masjid Amru Al-As, Bandar Baru Sentul, for the oath-taking ceremony on Friday.
“What is the point of us lodging police reports or taking action then? It would not make any sense,” she added.
During the event, state PKR Youth deputy chief Syed Mikael Rizal Aidid said the Datuk T trio should be punished via qazaf (criminal defamation) proceedings for failing to present four eligible witnesses to back up their accusation.
Anwar had previously also filed an application to get the prosecution to commence qazaf’ proceedings against his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, but the application was dismissed by the Syariah High Court last week.
Syed Mikael also claimed that there was no such thing as sumpah laknat in Islam, except for sumpah li’an in proving adultery involving married couples.
When asked to comment on the sumpah li’an, Dr Wan Azizah said it did not concern her or her husband, as they had nothing to do with the sex video.
“Why would we have to undertake such an oath when neither of us were involved?,” she said.
