Man kills wife, sister-in-law in Haryana

Two middle-aged women lost their lives Saturday in Haryana’s Jhajjar town after the husband of one of them hit them with an iron rod in a fit of rage, said the police.

Police later arrested Narender of Qilla Mohalla of Jhajjar town, 350 km from Chandigarh, on charges of murdering his wife Sudesh, 42, and sister-in-law Mukesh, 45.

Family members told the police that Narender attacked the two women with an iron rod in a fit of anger after his wife argued with him over his drinking habits.

The verbal duel between Narender and his wife resulted in his attack on her. On seeing Sudesh being beaten up mercilessly, Mukesh tried to intervene but she too was attacked, Jhajjar police spokesman Devender Dangi said.

Mukesh collapsed at the house and died, Dangi said.

Both women were rushed to the Jhajjar civil hospital where Mukesh was declared brought dead.

Sudesh was referred to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences by the Jhajjar civil hospital doctors, but she too died of her injuries.
