Muzaffarnagar (UP), April 13: A 21-year-old youth was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a fast-track court here for killing his sister’s lover as he was opposed to their affair.
Judge Pradeep Gupta also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Arif Ansari but acquitted his three brothers for want of evidence.
According to prosecution, 18-year-old Farukh was strangulated to death at Budhana town in the district in August 2006. Police had registered a case against Arif, Naushad, Islamuddin and Rahimuddin accusing them of murdering Farukh for having an affair with their sister.
Arif was convicted for murder under Section 302 of IPC while his brothers were acquitted.
