Malaysia acts tough on sexual harassment

Kuala Lumpur, July 08: Office bosses in Malaysia who fail to act on sexual harassment complaints from employees will face a fine of up to 10,000 ringgit ($3,125).

A bill in this connection was presented in the parliament Thursday by Malaysian Deputy Human Resource Minister Maznah Mazlan.

The Employment (Amendment) Bill, 2010, says that not investigating and not submitting reports to the relevant authority will be considered as not acting on sexual harassment complaints, Xinhua reported.
