Washington : If running on treadmills and doing squats are something that dozes you off to sleep, then it’s time to spice up your workouts with “trending all over” dance fitness programme, ‘Zumba.’
Created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto Perez during the 1990s, this fitness programme involves dance and aerobic elements that focuses on hip and belly movements.
Detailing about the trending form of workout, Jotika Anand, a level two Zumba trainer said that people in the country often mistake zumba as a dance form, but in reality it is a dance fitness that combines different dance rhythms like Bhangra, Merengue and Bachata and is a combination of high and low intensity workout.
Claiming that it helps to burn out 600 calories in one session of 45 minutes, Jotika further said that Zumba primarily focuses on a person’s core muscles because it involves a lot of belly movement.
A doctor by profession and a Zumba lover by choice, Dr. Pooja Jain said that it is a happy workout as not only it shapes up your body, but it also relaxes your mind.
