Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal today directed collectors to conduct in a grand manner Bathukamma festival from Sept 20 to 28 for nine days. At a review meeting here he asked the collectors to make fool-proof arrangements for the state festival of Bathukamma in the districts. Effective coordination among departments will spread the message of Telangana culture through the festival to the world the minister said. He said that it was decided to release Rs 5 lakhs to each collector for the arrangements and at least 1000 women should be gathered the festivities on Sept 27 and make permanent arrangements at Bathukamma ghats for immersion. Officials should involve local leaders for successful conduct of the event. He said that 35000 women will gather for Sept 26bathukamma event at LB Stadium and cultural programs should be arranged to mark the mega event. (NSS)
