Mahajan inaugurates Passport centre at Indore

Indore: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday inaugurated a Passport Seva Laghu Kendra (PSLK) here.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Minister of State for External Affairs V.K. Singh were also present on the occasion.

The second passport centre in Madhya Pradesh, the Indore centre is the 90th PSK of the country and will function as an extended arm of the Regional Passport Office, Bhopal, catering to the applicants from 15 districts of the Indore and Ujjain Commissionerate, said a release from the Ministry of External Affairs.

Initially, it will give appointments to 100 applicants per day.

To improve the delivery of passport services, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) launched the Passport Seva Project (PSP) in May 2010, in a Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode with Tata Consultancy Services.

More than 4.35 crore passport service applications have been processed since the inception of this system.

During 2016, more than 1,47,000 passport applications from Madhya Pradesh were processed by the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Bhopal.
