CPI Deplores Low Level Speeches of Narendra Modi

S Sudhakar Reddy, General Secretary, Communist Party of India (CPI) has said in a press note that they  are shocked at the low level and cheap speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh elections, trying to divide the people on communal and casteist lines. His comments on kabaristhans and graveyards as well as his attack in the name of a caste shows his desperation in Uttar Pradesh elections.

He said that criticisms on political opponents in elections is natural and expected. The criticism will only be exposing the failure of the opposition party or government and on its policies and political line. Prime Minister’s and Amit Shah’s speeches are unfortunately not in these lines.

The Supreme Court and the Election Commission of India have explicitly directed not to use religion and caste for election campaigns. The BJP top leadership does not seem to have any respect for the apex court and Election Commission of India. Prime Minister also made some comments on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) – Congress Party are not in good taste, he stated.

Narendra Modi by making such cheap comments on opponent parties like a ‘Galli’ leader, is reducing the stature of the Prime Minister. The political culture of the BJP and its leaders is deplorable.    Whatever will be the result of elections, the bitter taste and cheap campaign by leaders of high stature will be remembered for long and will have its negative consequences, he added.

Reddy further said that the election Commission of India should take these speeches and comments into consideration and intervene effectively to check them. Our Party National Council Secretary Atul Kumar Anjaan had already written a letter to Election Commission of India on these issues and had requested its intervention, so that free and fair elections could be conducted, he said.(NSS)
