Mumbai, February 10: After withdrawing security given to certain Shiv Sena leaders who protested during Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the city, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan today warned the party’s Executive President Uddhav Thackeray of similar measures against him if he broke the law.
“If required we will also withdraw security of Uddhav Thackeray. I have already withdrawn security of Sena leaders involved in such (protesting against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi) incidents,” Chavan told CNN-IBN.
Reacting to Chief Minister’s statement Thackeray said, “what the CM will withdraw… I am returning my security to the government”.
Criticising the Chief Minister for his warning to withdraw the security of Uddhav, Sena MP Sanjay Raut said, “Chavan is playing very low level politics. Sena activist are more than enough for the security of Uddhavji”.
However, Home Minister R R Patil said, the state government has not taken any decision to withdraw the security of Uddhav Thackeray.
