‘Look at my face… I am so happy’, Tripura CM allegedly responds to lynching

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has put him in a spot once again after he said ‘There is a wave of happiness in state’ in response to a question on mob lynching.

According to NDTV, when the 49-year-old Chief Minister was asked about the government’s action plan to contain the incidents of lynching, he said: “Tripura mein ek anand ka leher chala hua hai. Aap bhi is leher ko upbhog kijiye. Aap ko anand aana chaiye… mera chehra dekhiye… mujhe kitni khushi ho rahi hai. yeh sarkar janta ka sarkar hai, janta action legi (I think that you all should think that today there is a wave of happiness in Tripura. You should also enjoy this happiness wave and you will also become happy. Look at my face, how happy I am. It’s people’s government and people will take action).”

The state BJP or the CM’s office released a statement on Thursday evening claiming the Chief Minister was misquoted.

“Unfortunately, attempts have been made to take the above comments of the chief minister out of context and relate them to the severely reprehensible incidents of lynchings,” said the statement by directorate and information and cultural relations.

In the last eight days, four people were killed by a mob suspecting them as child lifter in Tripura.
