London, February 25: Troubled star Lindsay Lohan has confessed that she took to alcohol and drugs to cope with the problems in life and almost killed herself with the addiction.
The Mean Girls star, who has been to rehab three times and was jailed after being caught with cocaine, blamed her father Michael for the troubles in her life, reported Sun online.
“When my father was going public, that’s when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn’t the answer to my problems. I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances,” said Lohan. The 23-year-old actress was terrified when she collapsed in her LA bathroom in 2007 and woke up to find herself surrounded by cascading water. That was the first time she sought help for her addiction.
“I’d run a bath and fallen asleep on the floor and the bath had overflowed. When I woke up I was so scared, I called my therapist and said, ‘Can I just go somewhere for a month?” Lohan said. The actress has now learnt her lessons and does not want to risk blowing her whole career with her addictions. “I’ve made some dreadful mistakes but learned from them – that has probably saved my life. I never want to be close to losing everything I worked for and aspired to have my whole life,” said Lohan.
