Laxaman, Kishan oppose move to shift dharna chowk from Indira Park

Telangana State BJP president Dr K Laxman today reiterated that his party would stoutly oppose shifting of dharna chowk from Indira Park.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Dr Laxman said the dharna chowk at Indira Park was the place where Telangana supporters had organized dharnas in support of separate State and Indira Park is the place which gave life to various agitations, he observed. The government wanted to shift the dharna chowk in a bid to prevent any resentment from the people, he alleged. Demanding to withdraw any move to shift the dharna chowk, the BJP State chief alleged the government’s move amounts to curb rights of people, employees, students and political organizations.

BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy said Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar provided right to the people under Constitution to express their protest peacefully for solving their problems and in support of their demands. It was not proper to shift the place where people tried to bring to the notice of the government about their problems peacefully by organizing dharna and protests, Kishan Reddy said. He said, “This is not Nizam period and dictator attitude would not be tolerated”. (NSS)
