Haldwani : Father of Major Kamlesh Pandey, who was killed in an encounter with terrorists in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday, exhorted India to wage a full-fledged war against Pakistan.
Pandey’s father, Mohan Chandra Pandey, who is himself a retired army officer, said that Pakistan is responsible for the death of his son and demanded that a war against Pakistan is needed to put an end to all the violence.
Speaking to media before the last rites of his son, Mohan Chandra said, “Only a full-fledged war against Pakistan will put an end to this. There is no other option other than war. Only a war can ensure 15-20 years of peace.”
Meanwhile, last rites of Major Kamlesh Pandey were performed on Friday at his naive place in Haldwani, Uttarakhand with full military honours.
Earlier in the morning, the mortal remains of Major Kamlesh Pandey were brought to his native place.
Pandey, who was among the three armymen injured in a gunfight with terrorists, succumbed to his injuries after he was airlifted 92 military base hospital in Srinagar. The other two soldiers were identified as Tenzin and Kripal Singh.
As the mortal remains of the martyred Major reached his village in Uttarakhand for the last rites, slogans of ‘Pakistan murdabad’ were raised by the locals.
Meanwhile, Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Pandey, 26, is survived by his wife, daughter and parents. (ANI)
