Lalu Prasad Yadav honours tea seller, says PM Modi only markets his own image

New Delhi: RJD on Wednesday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he was “marketing” his own image as a tea seller but not doing anything for those involved in the trade.

Party chief Lalu Prasad also honoured Mangal Rai, a tea seller of Katihar railway station, who came to the Assembly with Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav.

Rai saw the Assembly proceedings from the visitors’ gallery. Later, talking to reporters, the tea seller alleged the Prime Minister did not fulfil the promises he made before the general elections for welfare of the poor like him. “We are still waiting for Rs 15-20 lakh in the bank account which Narendra Modi had promised from the black money that will be brought back home,” Rai said.

Tejaswi Yadav told reporters his party has always cared for the well being of the poor and honouring Rai was part of it. He denounced the Prime Minister’s ‘Chai par Charcha’ programme during the Parliamentary elections as merely a “marketing for his own image”.
