KVP to head panel on public safety

Hyderabad, July 01: The State Government on Tuesday appointed Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao as Chairman of Advisory Committee on Public Safety and Security. Chief Secretary to Government and Director General Inspector General of Police will be the Co-Chairmen.The Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department, Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence), Director General, A.P Fire Emergency services and Chairman, A.P State Council for Higher Education will be the Ex-Officio members.

The Functions and duties of the Advisory Committee include study of various issues relating to Public Safety and Security and offer expert views in the time of crisis.

The Committee is also expected to study matters, which are of general public importance, of public interest and to recommend necessary measures to ensure public safety and public security.

The Committee would also suggest measures to educate general public on the safeguards to be taken in view of threats to public safety, security and communal activities.
