STs to get pass books on july 5

Hyderabad, July 01: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy will issue pass books to ST (Scheduled Tribes) beneficiaries under the ST and other traditional forest dwellers (Record of Rights) Act, 2006.

The chief minister will visit the Rampachodavaram tribal agency on July 5.

Informing mediapersons of this at the release of the TRICOR (Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Tribes Co-operative Finance Corporation Limited) Action Plan for 2009-10 at the Secretariat, Tribal Welfare minister P Balaraju said the chief minister would visit Rampachodavaram on July 5 and Visakhapatnam on July 12 to issue pass books to ST beneficiaries.

He would also visit Adilabad and Bhadrachalam in the third and fourth week of July for the purpose. Of the total 12 lakh acres of tribal lands, passbooks pertaining to about four lakh had already distributed.

In all, about 3,89,233 ST beneficiaries would receive passbooks. As per the Act, the beneficiaries would not be allowed to sell the lands to others, he said.

Regarding the TRICOR action plan, the minister said that with an outlay of Rs 309.57 crore the plan would help 3.73 lakh ST beneficiaries during the year.

Activities like agriculture, horticulture, land development, coffee and rubber planting, etc, would be taken up to benefit the communities in the agency areas.

Beneficiaries would be allowed to take up 20 percent of works of their choice.

“Some are interested in horticulture and others are interested in coffee and rubber planting,’’ he noted.
