Hyderabad: IT Minister of Telangana KT Rama Rao today attended 17th GST Council meeting in Delhi. KTR had to represent Telganana State in the meeting as Finance Minister E Rajender was busy with marriage function of his son at Hitex here.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Chaired the meeting which discussed on levying of tax on lotteries and formulate norms for Electronic Way Bills besides focusing on issues pertaining to concerns by various states. KTR put forth the Telangana Government’s appeal for exemption from GST for irrigation projects and drinking water schemes and reduction in GST tax regime for granites, handloom clothes and garments. It is pertinent to note that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wrote letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in this regard. KTR representing the state government is expected to have some positive impact, it is said.(NSS)
