Kolkata to become second London!

Kolkata, June 01: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said that her government would adopt necessary schemes for beautification of Kolkata centering the Ganga river in line with the beautification of London along the Thames river.

“We have told RITES (Railway India technical and economic services) to submit a detailed plan report to the state government within a month,” Banerjee told reporters at Writers’ Buildings.

She said that RITES made a plan presentation during the day.

The chief minister said that a steering committee had been formed in this regard. Next meeting of the committee, she said, would be held on June 30.

Banerjee said she had got the impression that many persons were interested in investing in the state. “Many of them met me,” she added.

“I held meetings with the Transport department and Kolkata municipal corporation authorities,” she added.
