Warangal, Nov 29 (INN): Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Tuesday asked that the Congress and Telugu Desam Party leaders from the region to mount pressure on the State Government to introduce a resolution on Telangana in the ensuing assembly session beginning from December 1.
Prof Kodandaram was speaking on the occasion of Deeksha Diwas organised to mark the beginning of 11-days fast taken up by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao that subsequently led to the Centre’s announcement of granting statehood for Telangana on December 9, 2009. He said that the parties should prove their commitment on Telangana state formation by introducing a resolution on the first day of winter session of the assembly.
Prof Kodandaram said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy should pass a unanimous resolution on Telangana state in the assembly session on the lines of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawathi’s move to divide the state into four parts. He warned the government and parties of serious consequences if they fail to press for resolution in the assembly.
He warned that the Congress and TDP would be wiped out from the Telangana region if they fail to introduce the resolution.
The TP-JAC chairman also called upon the people of region to come to roads on December 1 demanding Telangana resolution.
He accused Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar of acting partially in accepting the resignations of Telangana leaders. Stating that the Speaker should act judiciously in accepting the resignations, he said that Manohar should not bring disrepute to the post.
He asked as to why he rejected the resignations of those who quit the Congress and joined the YSR Congress party violating the party principles.
Former TRS MP Vinod Kumar and other leaders also spoke on the occasion. (INN)
