Hyderabad, May 31: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has rounded off his three-day visit to his native Chittoor district with a darshan in the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara on Monday morning.
Reddy, who reached Tirumala on Sunday night after a three-day sojourn in his native Nagaripalle village, offered his hair to the Lord, for the first time after he took over the reigns of the government.
As he arrived at the Mahadwaram of the hill temple, he was given a traditional welcome by the priests and the TTD officials and conducted into the sanctum sanctorum for a darshan.
Later, he was seated at the Ranganayakula Mandapam where he was offered the Lord’s prasadams by the Chairman of the TTD Specified Authority, J. Sathyanarayana, even as Veda pundits chanted verses from the scriptures and blessed the Chief Minister with long life and prosperity.
Meanwhile, former legislator of Tirupati, M. Venkatramana, has presented a cheque for Rs.25 lakh to the Chief Minister being his donation to the TTD for its various welfare schemes. The Chief Minister in turn handed it over to the Executive Officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao.
